First I would like to make it clear to everyone reading, I do not consider my views to be perfect nor do I possess the ignorance to not embrace/consider improvements or criticism as long as it makes viable sense & is backed up by relevant and reliable sources.
I was reading the Jamaican gleaner’s website today which was featuring news coverage of the murder of a 79 year old retiree Hyacinth Hayden.(retired nurse Hyacinth Hayden links provided below). This lady worked her life as a Nurse in England and using her life to commited to treating the sick and retired in Jamaica as her family are from the island. She was described as a woman of substance, a golden heart always willing to help. She was a servant to humanity working in the hospitals/health services before and after retirement. This individual reaffirmed my belief in humanity, Hyacinth was truly a great sole.
I’ve also notice this act of murdering or robbing retirees living in Jamaica is not so far and few between.
As a people we have to stand up for our own and denounce this act of heartless senseless killing. I will always see myself as man before my nationality or my heritage. I believe in the good of people but this barbaric act truly disgusts me to my very core. I’m Ashamed to be Jamaican in these times where tirany and nonsense is being deemed as normality. To the ones responsible I say where is your sense of decency to your fellow man. I think everyone whether Jamaican or not should be asking where’s the humanity in this. Hyacinth is dream people like myself & many others have, that one day we rehabilitate back to Jamaica giving back to the home country our family and loved ones resides in. Acts like the stabbing and murdering of Hyacinth Hayden deters nationals from retiring in or visiting Jamaica. We need to change the mentality of the people living in this unjust system. We as a people need to speak out on injustice & encourage our neighbours to tell the truth while providing support to those who need it. We need to rediscover the sense of community.
