The Cost Of Freedom

Growing up in the late 90s I was told I should be grateful for the struggles my people have undergone to ensure my freedom. I’ve always found this to be fabricated as we cannot deny the struggle our forefathers endured but the illusion we are now free is plainly false. As a people we are enslaved by the have’s, instead of using chains &whips  its now done by unfair taxing, national deficits & unfair distribution of wealth.

image

We are penalised if we miss taxes yet multimillion pound corporations evade billions in taxes due to the connections they hold with the so call leaders (politicians). We have more food banks being openned to service the people who cannot afford to feed their family which the Politicians tells us is a good thing, we are in the age of deep seeded urban decay. They subject us to a rise in zero hour contract providing no stability or job security as the companies now have the power to fire workers without reason. We are living in an Orwellian world where 1984 doesn’t seem as far fetched as it did on release. We are constantly under surveillance and scrutiny,  emails being hacked and no regards for the safety of the poor. Not to mention we are constantly being dragged into wars for profit, while our sons and daughters are slaughtered in the theatre of war, politicians and opportunist rub their hands at the profits being made, whether its oil or other natural resources.

What will it take to get true freedom? Freedom is demanded and taken not given. The people profitting from the current system do not want a change, they do not want wealth to be distributed equally. The powers that be will never take us serious until we affect their revenue. We are fed lies on a daily basis by the mass media convincing us austerity is good and its the mass populations fault for the sorry state of this economy. We are constantly subjected to benefit cuts and tax rises while the bankers are paid million pound bonuses for losing tax payers money in iffy investments that only benefits the 1%

ITS TIME TO TAKE A STAND

I support all that oppose austerity and support better pay to match the cost of living and making these bankers take full responsibility for the sorry state they have left the country in through back door dealings and terrible investments then demanding to be bailed out by the tax payer. I believe we can change the way thing are done. As the majority we have the power to make a change, its obvious the politicians have no interest in raising the standard of living for the working class. They make empty promises whenever election time comes around, and like the mindless sheep we are we eat it up and vote for these criminals as if they will actually make changes to our living conditions.

We need to educate ourselves on the common lies fed to us to keep us divided and hating our fellow men which are in the same situations as ourselves. Studies from UCL shows the net contribution immigration makes in taxes is 4.96bn more than what is taken out in public services and UKIP tells you immigration is the reason why the economy is in a bad state. The state of the economy has nothing to do with multinational companies like starbucks with sales of 400mil but not a penny in corporation taxes. If a small UK business was to do that they would be sent court summons and face prosecution for tax invasions. Now tell me David Cameron is looking out for the small business owners.

We need to stand up for what we believe in and not be easily swayed by Mr Cameron and his fellow suit wearing crooks.

Freedom isn’t free… dont expect to get your desired result without hard work.
Nothing is given.

Its a competitive world for less fortunate people spending all your time while earning a pittance. They over hiking the prices, we pay an arm and leg for basics while our leaders live lavish and are flown around on tax payers money. The day our leaders have to survive on minimum wage is the day they will understand what people like ourselves go through on a daily basis and that might make a difference to the policies that are put through, not in corporate interests but in the greater good of the less fortunate.

I hope you enjoyed the read. To those who may feel strongly about this topic I understand your struggle.

I have been living in the UK for 12 years and have been very fortunate to discover the rich history of this great city. From the story of Lady Godiva to the Famous Jaguar car manufacturing plant coventry have always stood out as a prominent City in the midlands and with the debate regarding coventry being classed as part of greater Birmingham its the perfect time to take a look at some of the great sights to see in coventry. So as its the start of summer I decided to take myself on a little adventure around the city. I must say I was truely blown away by the in depth amount of history there is to discover.

In My Thoughts ( Clarendon Jamaica)

After seeing the story regarding the murdered students in my home parish of Clarendon I could not believe my eyes. Seeing such a brutal act happening to a family I know brought it closer to home for me. We need justice for the above and a new outlook on the value of life. I still cannot understand the thought process that took place which led to the murder of these children. The perpetrators should be caught and locked up as this level barbaricness have no place in society.

I was born in Mandiville Hospital 09.30pm 13.05.1988 to a family from Bell Plane Clarendon.

I have spent the first 14 years in the Country that defined the views and type of person I would grow to be. Growing up in Jamaica I was never a stranger to violence and brutal killings,  it’s the corruption inside the police force or the brutal murders taking place inside the urban and now rural areas, death was never a stranger to me. The nature of the Island I grew to know & love is still very new and mysterious to me, the fact it can be the most beautiful, scenic, peaceful and tranquil place on the equator yet it has the capability to be the most violent, blood soaked place to call home. The problem I find in such a small country is there isn’t a middle ground. We have influential people preaching hatred whether that be homophobia or the rise in gun Culture referencing music making it cool for kids to pick up guns etc. We need more people like Cronix or Omi to wave the flag for forward and peaceful thinking. I think it’s a turn in tide for the people in Jamaica, we are realising the power of unity and community as the people who are benefiting from the current corrupted system wants us to be divided or opposing our fellow-man (Divide and conquer).

We need to stomp out this brutal message of gang culture we seem to have adopted from the US as this will not help the development of what has the potential to be the greatest country built on great values. We have a rich culture from The buccaneers of port royal to the emancipation of slavery we as Jamaican people have come a long way. We have our own identity in this new developing world with products that are only authentic when its being exported directly from the Island. With the rise of Ska, Reggae and Dancehall we have seen the Jamaican culture brought to the forefront of the music industry influencing the dress culture to the cannabis culture to the clashing culture. As Jamaican people if we come together we can make changes to the unjust laws set up by the profiting organisations that does nothing for the local people living in the country. Like the legalization of cannabis we can get more laws over turned to benefit the people living in the island. we have the capability to forge a new system where everyone’s taken care of no matter what class or background they are from. We need take realise what Bob Marley is preaching was not just to make good music but to change the minds of the people, to understand the need for equality and the need to not be dependent on material things.

We need to listen to the people before us who put there lives in danger to attempt to open our eyes to injustices in this system. We must not be fooled by high profiled politicians visiting us but not addressing the current issues affecting the working people. We need the white wash of past black leaders to be lifted, we need or heroes and prolific people like Marcus Garvey or Sam Sharp to have their image restored as forward free thinkers and not anarchist criminals. We have come a long way from the Bloodshed caused by Edward Seaga in the 80’s to get votes, however our communities are still feeling repercussions of those times. We are still trying to deal with th alarming amount of fire arms present on the streets of Jamaica yet Jamaica has not one ammunition or arms factory. Just knowing that shows the current state of the south is not due to the local people acquiring guns but is caused by the corrupted officials allowing and enabling the supplying of illegal fire arms. We are in need of a change in system, we need to stand up for our fellow-man.

How much more will have to suffer? How much more will have to die? There is a natural mystic flowing through the air if you listen carefully you will hear.

Times are changing, we need to understand the influence we have as people. As residence of the global community we need to see through differences as we are all one people. Out Of Many One people

The smudging of Birmingham City

Living in the UK for the last 12 years or so I’d like to think I’ve seen pretty much everything worth seeing in this crazy country. I’ve witnessed while being medicated on marijuana a severely drunk or as the British would say Shitfaced young chap sitting on the sidewalk outside Camden’s famouse Worlds End pub, in the rain repeatedly throwing up on himself asking for a fag (cigarette). I’ve witnessed the Birmingham colour festival highly medicated on marijuana last summer, and needless to say that shit was magical. From the Royal Ascot to Wembley stadium, NEC to the O2 Arena I’ve seen more than enough (highly medicated on marijuana).
Now back to the matter at hand I’ve came across a Telegraph article by Tim Moore on his disdain for Birmingham City. I’m not sure if he’s paid to be a dick or its just in his nature but attacking a city’s Tourism credibility when facts state different is just plain arseholism *I’m aware its not a word*. He writes ‘Birmingham is burdened with an anti magnetic unloveliness that deters sightseers’ he even goes as far as to remind us Queen Victoria ordered her window blinds to be lowered when passing through the city as it was the home to the darkest of satanic mills. However that was in the 18th hundreds, that would be like saying don’t go to to America because we used to fear being killed by Indians.
To me Birmingham is a  City you should visit, I mean it has some amazing shopping centres like the Bull Ring shopping Complex housing a large variety of world famous shops and boutiques.

image

Smaller trendy markets like The Custard Factory platform catering to people looking to shop from small businesses for that more personal experience, and thats if you like shopping. The Birmingham Library is newly furnished with state of the art architecture surrounded by spots to have a sandwich & a coffee while sight seeing. You could visit the Cube or anyone of the world renowned restaurants in the Mailbox boasting a variety of foods.  Birmingham also have one of the most vibrant nightlife as experienced with an array of bars, pubs and clubs to drink your fill and party the night away.

There are plenty of arenas to view live acts or performances. I’ve seen acts like Kendrick Lamar, Jay-z and Kanye West performing infront of thousands to thousands flocking to the City for the Clothes Show. The City is also home to Aston Villa fc with a rich legacy in football, and I’m not just saying so because I’m a Villa fan.
Being familiar with the Midlands and the Warwickshire Birmingham is a perfect place to stay if you would like to visit places like The Kenilworth Catle or Warwick Castle  & the famous Lady Godiva in Coventry which makes for great sightseeing.  I mean who doesn’t like castles, or naked chicks on horse back demonstrating to lower tax?

Tim Moore’s views are unjust, why tarnish and belittle and entire city. The truth is southerners are moving out of London due to cost of living, rent prices are ridiculous whether its business or home your constantly being milked for your every penny.  Birmingham continues to grow economically with more people opening new businesses & giving back to the city creating a more friendly & neighbourly surroundings than you would get in London.
I would like to make it clear though sometimes people come across very cold and up them selves in the capital city I do have some great friends and family in London.  I just hope this post does not put anyone off going to Birmingham or London as both are great cities with a lot to see and offer not to mention you get a lot more for your money when buying Marijuana in the Midlands…

You cant say I didn’t give you some good advice

Lost Nationality – Hyacinth’s tribute

Tags

First I would like to make it clear to everyone reading, I do not consider my views to be perfect nor do I possess the ignorance to not embrace/consider improvements or criticism as long as it makes viable sense & is backed up by relevant and reliable sources.

I was reading the Jamaican gleaner’s website today which was featuring news coverage of the murder of a 79 year old retiree Hyacinth Hayden.(retired nurse Hyacinth Hayden links provided below). This lady worked her life as a Nurse in England and using her life to commited to treating the sick and retired in Jamaica as her family are from the island.  She was described as a woman of substance,  a golden heart always willing to help. She was a servant to humanity working in the hospitals/health services before and after retirement. This individual reaffirmed my belief in humanity, Hyacinth was truly a great sole.

I’ve also notice this act of murdering or robbing retirees living in Jamaica is not so far and few between.
As a people we have to stand up for our own and denounce this act of heartless senseless killing. I will always see myself as man before my nationality or my heritage. I believe in the good of people but this barbaric act truly disgusts me to my very core. I’m Ashamed to be Jamaican in these times where tirany and nonsense is being deemed as normality. To the ones responsible I say where is your sense of decency to your fellow man. I think everyone whether Jamaican or not should be asking where’s the humanity in this. Hyacinth is dream people like myself & many others have, that one day we rehabilitate back to Jamaica giving back to the  home country our family and loved ones resides in. Acts like the stabbing and murdering of Hyacinth Hayden deters nationals from retiring in or visiting Jamaica. We need to change the mentality of the people living in this unjust system. We as a people need to speak out on injustice & encourage our neighbours to tell the truth while providing support to those who need it. We need to rediscover the sense of community.

Are we ready for the twilight of neoliberalism?

This is definitely worth a read

Systemic Disorder

Not since the Great Depression have so many people in the global North called into question capitalism, yet among most of the advanced capitalist countries there is little organized pushback. Worse, parties of the Right appear to be gaining ground as voters who in the past backed the traditional parties of the center-left increasingly stay home, disgusted at their “me, too” approach to economics.

A decaying order increasingly reliant on repression that delivers immiseration to ever more people ought to be under more pressure. It can’t be said there are no serious challenges — social movements such as Spain’s Indignados and political coalitions contending for power such as Greece’s Syriza, for example — and the dramatic instant popularity of the Occupy movement demonstrated widespread discontent.

Still, the limitations of Occupy led to its demise and nothing yet has arisen in its place. Is there a weakness in our movements that is…

The Cusp Of Change

At the age of 26 entering the year of 2015 I’ve witnessed great progression, whether that being technological or acts of human rights to seeing with my own two eyes an elected Black president of the free world. I’ve seen great achievements in the evolution of our race & in that being said we do have great improvements & changes to execute in order to make this society fair and just for all. We must learn from the history of our struggles to see to it  these mistakes are not remade. We must stand up for civil rights, after all we are all children of the earth. We must respect our neighbours rights while demanding the right to being treated freely, equally & granted access & support needed by or government representive. We must learn, we must improve & strengthen, We must do better.

I would like to make it clear, these are my views. I believe in the goodness of human beings. Even though we are capable of committing the most violent & disturbing acts onto our fellow man we are also capable or showing the highest amount of selflessness and kindness. love comes easiest to the heart.
